Understanding Fire Door Ratings

When choosing the right fire door, rating is vital. We supply two widely recognised international fire classifications.

Fire Rating Protection Time Door Thickness Key Benefit
FD30 Minimum 30 minutes fire resistance 44mm thick Prevents the spread of fire and smoke for at least 30 minutes, protecting escape routes
FD60 Minimum 60 minutes fire resistance 54mm thick Delivers enhanced fire containment and longer evacuation time

If you’re unsure which rating you need, our friendly team is always happy to guide you through the options.

When Are Fire Doors Needed?

Fire doors can make a crucial difference in an emergency by slowing the spread of fire and smoke, keeping escape routes clear, and protecting the people and spaces that matter most. They are recommended in higher-risk areas such as kitchens, internal access points to garages, and spaces that connect directly to the main escape route. They’re also essential in loft conversions and any home with three storeys, where having a safe escape route is even more important. In HMOs (Houses of Multiple Occupation), fire-rated doors are a legal requirement, and many other properties must also meet specific regulations. If you’re unsure where and when fire doors should be installed in your home, our team can guide you through the requirements and help you make confident, informed decisions.

Designed to Protect and Crafted to Look Beautiful

Every fire door in our collection is built with a reinforced internal core designed to slow down fire penetration, offering vital protection without compromising on style. Many options also include glazed panels with fire-rated glass, allowing natural light to flow through your home while maintaining safety and performance. Because we believe fire doors should blend with your interior, our range includes modern flush styles, traditional panelled designs, industrial steel-look glazing, and everything from classic elegance to contemporary minimalism. With finishes including natural oak, bold black and crisp white primed, you can choose a fire door that reflects your taste while keeping your home protected.
